Road Trip - Asheville, North Carolina

The drive along the Blue Ridge Mountains was beautiful all along the way, however, it was after the turn-off onto I-40, down through the Smoky Mountains, that the views really got breathtaking. Although it was overcast, with periods of heavy rain, my arrival in North Carolina was simply beautiful as I wound my was down to Asheville, nestled between the two mountain ranges. The mist from the precipitation, indeed, made the mountains appear covered in smoke.

Yesterday, I took the first leg of my tour of the American Southeast, DC to Asheville. The drive went smoothly. I am on my way to Montgomery Bell State Park, just outside of Nashville, for a retreat. From there, I will head down to New Orleans to visit with my family for about a week. Then I'll drive back on a more southern route through Atlanta and Charlotte on my way back to DC. I love driving, and am really enjoying this trip. In case you don't know, this is my ride below (click on photo for better view).

All of the pictures I shot thus far on the trip were taken with my 35mm camera (remember those? they use film). I'll shoot some digital shots today and upload them when I get a chance. Stay tuned...next update may not be 'till New Orleans.
